Integrated encoder modules, also known as integrated motor encoders or IMEs for short, are a form of quadrature sensor that is attached to the back of a VEX 2-wire motor 393 or 2-wire motor 269, replacing the green cap originally attached to each respective motor. This sensor measures the amount of rotations of one of the internal gears of the motor which provides acceleration, velocity and position. Unlike other VEX EDR sensors, IMEs are connected via the I2C port in the microcontroller.1)
